Stephen Ison runs the South London Community Support Service. This is a joint outreach service with Nightingale Hammerson and Jewish Care. He has been working in the role for nine years.
He is responsible for co-ordinating and developing community support services to the Jewish communities in South London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Before joining Jewish Care 13 years ago Stephen worked as an independent financial adviser for 27 years. In his spare time he ran the welfare for a large North West London synagogue so feels his experience as a volunteer in the community has been essential in his role. Stephen says he really adores his work despite the complex or distressing situations that often provide quite a challenge.
